‘BETTER TO LIGHT A CANDLE, THAN CURSE THE DARKNESS’, UNADSAC VISIT TO HURUMA CHILREN’S HOME, ON 30 TH NOVEMBER 2019.
The University of Nairobi Anti-Drugs and Substance Abuse Club (UNADSAC) conducted a visit to the Huruma Children Centre on 30th of November 2019. The group was welcomed by The Sister in Charge, Sister Eucharistica, who introduced the theme of submission to helping the poor. She also gave a brief history of the Mother Teresa missionaries who run the Center. The missionaries work like Mother Teresa did, in helping the disadvantaged. The visiting group was then led on a tour through the different sections of the Center. There was the section of the Mother and Child where distressed mothers can stay with their newborn babies. Then there was the section for the aged women (They have another Center which takes care of the aged men). The third section was for disabled children. The visiting group then embarked on helping in washing of clothes and cleaning up the laundry area.
Thereafter, they assisted in feeding the children. Some snacks for the children and a cash donation were then given to the Sister in Charge. The visitors were each given a small portrait of Mother Teresa.
